I’m a Perth-based freelancer who specialises in building SEO-friendly WordPress websites. I am passionate about creating beautiful websites that give your customers a brilliant first impression and keeps them coming back time and time again.
I come from a marketing background with 12 years of experience in a variety of industries. I have worked with many marketing agencies of all sizes, including one of the world’s biggest digital marketplaces, Yellow Pages. My roles have included various responsibilities such as managing multiple projects and teams, developing and launching many marketing campaigns, graphic design, and copywriting, to name a few. Although I’m proud to be a multi-skilled digital marketing expert, my true passion lies with SEO and website development.
It was during my time as Marketing Manager for a family business that I dove into the world of search engine optimisation (SEO). In 2012, Google launched its Penguin update which negatively impacted the organic position of our website. After discovering that the SEO company we were outsourcing to were using black hat SEO techniques, which lead to severe ranking penalisations, I decided to learn SEO myself. After attending courses and improving my knowledge through self-study, I implemented a new, white hat, SEO strategy which, after several stressful weeks, dramatically improved our position on Google. Seeing the fruits of our labour was hugely satisfying and thus a love of SEO was born. SEO has come a long way since the Penguin update over 10 years ago and is ever-evolving. It is therefore vital that I keep up to date with Google’s algorithm tweaks, which are constant, to allow my clients to continuously perform well in search results.
Through my time in various marketing positions, I have built and managed several websites using different content management systems. As a creative person, I thoroughly enjoy the process of coming up with the design, writing engaging content, and building a fully functional website. I have managed to combine my love of building websites with my specialist SEO skills, along with my fundamental understanding of marketing, to create a blossoming freelance career.
